What Happens When We Meet?
What happens in an initial consultation?
After a phone chat to ensure we’re a good fit, we’ll schedule a two-hour in-home meeting to assess your space and outline priorities. You’ll receive an invoice for $400, and once it’s paid, we’ll confirm your appointment. We’ll be at your door on time, ready to listen and create.
The Wish List Versus The Budget
Everyone has a long wish list, but budget and time constraints matter. We’ll help you prioritize what’s urgent and what can wait. We’ll be honest about how many hours we think each phase of work will take, and up front, we’ll give you an idea of approximate costs. We’ll talk about price points. Some families are all about Ikea – and we love and respect that. Others are ready to spend more on “keep it for life” items, and we know exactly how to make that happen.
Design isn’t just about furniture; you may need repairs, installations, or remodeling. We have a roster of trusted professionals for everything from electricians to plumbers, to cabinet makers and upholsterers. If you need it, we know where to find it.
Getting it All Together
What Happens After The First Meeting?
Those two hours will fly by, but by the end, we’ll have a plan and a priority list. You’ll purchase either a 10-hour package ($2000), which must be used in one month, or a 20-hour package ($4,000) to be used over three months.
Many clients start with a small project, gain confidence and enthusiasm when they see how much fun it is to work with us, and expand the scope over time. With our experience, we can estimate costs and timelines accurately. There’s no mystery: you’ll have a dedicated calendar at your fingertips, telling you what to expect and when to expect it.
How Long Will it Take?
You won’t be left with a pile of deliveries and no guidance—we’ll stay on the job. Whether it’s supervising the contractors we suggest and you hire and pay directly, making a bed with new linens, or even managing a kitchen installation while you're away on vacation, we’re here to ensure everything comes together seamlessly.
Abandonment Issues
“Thank you so much to Cathryn for all of her help in decorating our home! We reached out to her to help us update several rooms. She was very thorough and thoughtful in her selections. Cathryn presented some options that were initially outside our comfort zone, but she helped us expand our vision and ultimately to come up with the best design for our rooms!”
